Cruise to Navagio, the Shipwreck of Zakynthos
Navagio, also called Shipwreck Beach or Smugglers Cove, is the closed cove of the rusted ship Panagiotis. Captain of Cruises reaches it only from the sea, departing from Makris Gialos.
How a boat reaches Navagio
There is no road down to the sand. The visit is by boat. Our trips start at Makris Gialos beach in Volimes and run along the northern and western coast of Zakynthos, depending on the route and the weather.
On the three-hour shared trip, Navagio is paired with the Blue Caves. On a private cruise, stops and any time on the sand, when landing is allowed, are set with the skipper.
What you see in the cove of the Panagiotis
White limestone cliffs close a beach of turquoise water. Mid-sand sits the wreck of the Panagiotis, the ship that gave the place the name Shipwreck. From above, the cove looks like a white gate. From the sea, you enter it.
The photograph that travels the world is this cove. Your own visit depends on the swell at the entrance. If the sea will not allow an approach, the skipper says so before you leave Makris Gialos or changes the stop.
Shared trip or private cruise
Choose the shared Shipwreck and Blue Caves trip for a set three-hour plan and a small group. Choose the private cruise if you want the boat for your party only, with masks and a cooler, at an hour that suits you.

Practical notes for a Navagio day
Bring swimwear, a towel, a hat and sunscreen. Shoes you can take off help if you step onto pebbles. Leave time for the drive to Makris Gialos. Our season is May to October, 09:00–21:00.
After Navagio many guests continue to the Blue Caves at Cape Skinari or, on a private plan, toward Mizithres and Marathonisi. All of that is Zakynthos. The route to Kefalonia and Ithaca is a separate private cruise, on the 350 hp boat.
